Amrita keeps on asking her mom, “why Nisha has everything so beautiful but I don’t have?” Mom, please tell me, you need to answer me today. Amrita was sad, she used to compare herself all the time with the kids who were rich.
Her mom smiled and replied calmly, Amrita my baby, do not compare yourself with those kids. They also have problems in their life. However, they have different sort of problems. One day you will also have good things like beautiful toys, nice dresses. But right now we have to be happy with what we have. Your dad and I are working hard to give you everything you desire. Just have faith on us.
Amrita was still not satisfied with her mom’s response. “No mom when the day will come? Tell me, when we will be rich? Her mom again gave her calm and sweet reply. She said “Amrita, we are not poor, we are also rich. We are rich with happiness. You have your parents, they love you. That love is your treasure. Money cannot buy everything. Just be happy and be positive. Always say thanks to God for whatever he has given us.” You know what Amrita, there are many people in this world who do not have roof on their heads, who do not have food to eat. But we are blessed with this no? tell me, our home is small but we are lucky to have it.
Amrita smiled and said, thanks Mom, and “thank you God for the food, for the water and for everything.”
So Guys, Amrita understood this. But do we understand this?
Why always grass is greener on the other side??
Comparison, comparison and always comparison.. our talks starts like this…. Hey you know, Riya got a new car, SUV… and her salary has also increased by 30%.. is it not too much?? And Me, ohhh God, I am at the same package since 2 years, that same old car. God when I will get salary hike and a brand new car. Right Guys?? Is it happening with us?
We close our eyes and do not see the other side of the coin. May be Riya got these amenities but still not happy. May be she is over loaded with work and not able to spend quality time with family. Is this possible? Yes?
So what does this mean? That when we are wasting time in feeling sad on the achievements of somebody else, we can actually spend time in working and making things possible. Mostly people are never satisfied with their own situations, they think other have it better. They forget, everyone has equal share of opportunities. Some miss it, some crack it.
It is rightly said “the foolish man seeks happiness in the distance, the wise grows it under his feet”.
Wake up, you can do it even better.
Be happy, keep smiling, Count your blessings!!
